How do I know my idea for a screenplay will not be ripped off?

Ghostscribes will not read your story idea until we have exchanged a signed non-disclosure agreement. This agreement promises to protect the confidentiality of your idea. As you may be aware, there are many concepts floating around and one of them may be similar to yours.  Our assurance that your idea will not be copied or used in any way by Ghostscribes is contained in the agreement we send to you. By accepting solicited ideas, Ghostscribes becomes an easy target for accusations of theft of intellectual property, and frankly it would be foolish to compromise our service. Without integrity, we could not survive.
How is my completed screenplay protected?

Once Ghostscribes completes your screenplay, we will register it in your name with the Writers Guild of America, as well as enter into an assignment agreement with Ghostscribes, insuring all rights to you.
When do we begin to write?

After we sign the non-disclosure agreement and have our story conference, we will sign a contract and begin to write. Please see Submit Ideas for a detailed explanation of the procedure.
Can I change my story?

Yes, you can. However, story modifications that require significant re-working after the step outline is completed and agreed upon will be subject to additional costs.

How long will it take Ghostscribes to write the screenplay?

This is the toughest question to answer. Story development is dictated by the nature of your idea. Our goal is to develop your story the way you want it told.  Some of our clients know exactly what they want to say while others need more time to flesh out their ideas.  Once we reach the stage of a finished step outline, your screenplay can be completed within four to six weeks.

Can I submit my screenplay to producers or agents?

Yes. Your story and your screenplay belong to you. We encourage you to market your screenplay. In fact, we will provide suggestions to aid you. At no time will Ghostscribes ever claim credit for your idea or restrict your control over it.  Ghostscribes is not a producing company nor is it a licensed agency.
Will Ghostscribes help sell my screenplay?

Ghostscribes has the ability to assist you in the promotion of your screenplay. However, this additional service will entail a restructuring of our contractual relationship.

How much money can I make if I sell my screenplay?

There is no standard fee for a first time sale. Some first time writers have done as well as $450,000 or more, but that kind of first time out-of-the-box fee is rare.  Remember, in the film business everything is negotiable.
Do I have to be a US citizen?
No. But we only write in English.
